Fundraising Readiness: Financial Models and Investor Schedules

Fundraising Readiness is preparatory financial work carried out before a business engages with investors or lenders. It concerns financial information only and does not include securities placement or arranging investment.

Work performed

Financial projections and integrated financial models
Models project expected financial performance based on stated assumptions, for use in discussions with management and prospective investors.
Cash-flow forecasts
Forecasts set out projected cash inflows, outflows and funding requirements based on stated assumptions.
Investor financial schedules
Schedules and supporting packs organise the financial information investors typically request.
Financial due-diligence preparation
Financial records are reviewed and organised in advance of a diligence process.

Common questions

What is an integrated financial model?

A model in which the projected profit and loss statement, balance sheet and cash-flow statement are linked, so that a change in one assumption flows through all three statements.

What do financial projections depend on?

Projections are based on assumptions stated by management, such as growth, pricing, costs and hiring. They are estimates, not predictions of actual results.

What are investor financial schedules?

Organised schedules of historical financials, revenue breakdowns, cost structure, cap-table-related financial data and other information investors commonly request.

What does due-diligence preparation involve?

Reviewing and organising financial records, reconciliations and supporting documents in advance, so that information requested during diligence is available and consistent.

Does this work assure that funding will be raised?

No. The work prepares financial information. Investment decisions are made by investors, and no funding outcome is assured.

Readiness work concerns financial information and supporting documentation within the scope permitted to a Chartered Accountant. It does not include merchant banking, securities placement or regulated services requiring separate authorisation. Financial projections depend on stated assumptions; no funding, investor acceptance, listing or transaction outcome is assured.
